NBJMCC Members,
As we reflect on 2020 and the challenges we all faced at the
hands of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NBJMCC club worked tirelessly to
successfully execute an amended 2020 race season. This is testament to the
efforts of the Committee and the core group of volunteers who continue to put
in, time after time and week after week.
We implemented our COVID Safe plan, created an online
platform for ease of use, made great improvements to our promotional model and
ensured that our members and visiting riders alike had a safe and enjoyable
experience each time they took to the track. In the face of adversity, we
learned many lessons and will apply these to minimise the effect the COVID pandemic will continue to have with regards to getting on track and racing in
2021.
The club has also identified a number of opportunities to
strengthen our position, improve our system and continue as QLD’s premier Dirt
Track and Speedway venue. Among others, these opportunities include:
- Increasing capability in our official and volunteer
base.
- Updating our Constitution.
- Encourage new members not only at the grass roots
level, but across all disciplines.
- Streamlining the Executive and General Committee to
ensure accountability and efficiency in service to this club.
We also welcome back Andrew Brook as President, who was
voted by the committee to take the reigns once again and lead the club into a
new era of success. His experience and passion for the NBJMCC across the board
cannot be questioned and his enormous work ethic will drive the energy levels
required to move forward into 2021 and beyond.
Lastly we would like to recognise our outgoing President,
Joel Eaton. We were sorry to see him relinquish his position but understand his
reasons. He stepped into the position at an extremely trying time and his
leadership and commitment over the last 18 months or so has put us in a great
position and set a platform towards success. Thank you Joel for all your
effort.
2021 is shaping to be a busy year for Dirt track and
Speedway starting with our AGM (9th of January) and running the
postponed North Brisbane Cup (16th January). We have work to do and
we can’t do it on our own. Thank you to the members who have supported and
stuck by us. Merry Christmas and Happy new year to all. Bring on 2021!
Onwards and upwards
